The Glendorgal Hotel’s Beach Guide!
There are many different beaches available for you to visit in Cornwall, all close by to the Glendorgal Hotel, ranging from small enclosed nooks and rock-pooled bays through to large open sandy, surfing beaches.

The RNLI offers lifeguards throughout the summer season on the vast majority of beaches, remember to check and carefully read their beach safety advice at each guarded bay.

Porth Beach
A popular family beach with calmer water. Walk down the right of the beach to Porth Island to visit the blow hole and walk across the picturesque headland bridge that you can see from the Glendorgal Hotel.

Lusty Glaze
The adrenaline filled Adventure Centre runs from Lusty Glaze. Watch people riding the zip wire and scale the cliffs.

Watergate Bay
A long beautiful golden beach. Visit the Beach Hut for a drink and look out for the kite surfers on a windy day.

Whipsiderry Beach
A sheltered spot with caves and rock-pools for fun family exploring. Visit at low tide when you can access the whole beach.

Tolcarne Bay
A great surfing beach with a great little cafe. Wait for waves to watch Tolcarne Bay’s surfing ‘wedge’.

Bedruthan Steps
A dramatic beach with cliffs jutting out into the sea. Best seen from the cliff path where steps lead down to the beach.

Great Western Bay
Accessed from around the side of the ‘Great Western Hotel’ in Newquay. If you wait for low tide you can walk the length of all three beaches to Newquay harbour.

Towan Bay & Newquay Harbour
Another family favourite and one of Newquay’s best known beaches. Look out for the house on the cliff only reachable by a bridge.

Fistral Beach
Newquay’s famous – a world class surfing beach, Watch some of the best surfers in the UK catching the waves. The Cribbar, an offshore reef break works in high swells – not to be missed!

Crantock Beach
A large beach with sand dunes accessible from the Pentire area. The beach is the mouth of the river Gannel which is a beautiful walk along the river through to Trenance Gardens.
